KPS has
immediate openings for a Software Engineer/Programmer to support our customers in
designing, developing, configuring and commissioning Manufacturing Execution
Systems (MES). This is a unique opportunity to join a progressive and expanding
organization. You will be involved in the entire life cycle of providing comprehensive
MES solutions to our Fortune 500 customer base.
Your contributions will involve system
definition, functional specification development, technology selection,
software development, ERP integration, and on-site implementation and
commissioning. Some projects will also require working with software vendors
and/or partner developers to bring projects to completion.
Working from our headquarters in
Reading, Pennsylvania, you will be involved in the following activities:
- Work with technical and non-technical customer personnel to develop and
implement plant floor MES solutions
- Research and write functional requirement specifications
- Specify system software and hardware architecture
- Develop MES solutions using a variety of applications and tools
- Prepare system documentation including user guides and training materials
- Travel to customer sites for MES commissioning, installation and training
- Provide customer technical support and system upgrades
Your educational background should
consist of the following:
- Two or Four year degree in Engineering or Computer Science
You should have the following professional
experience:
- One-four years in a related field.
- In lieu of experience, individuals with documented training in MES technology
will be considered for entry level positions.
Your general technical skills must
include the following:
- Working knowledge of PC hardware, Windows and networking
- Software development experience
In addition to the above requirements,
you should have two or more of the following specific technical skills:
- Object oriented software development experience
- Manufacturing solution integration experience with PLC platforms such Allen-Bradley,
Siemens, etc.
- Database programming and management skills using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle,
etc.
- Application development experience using MES software platforms such as
Siemens Simatic IT, Wonderware Archestra, GE Fanuc Plant Applications, CIMNET
Factelligence, Rockwell FactoryTalk, etc.
- LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) experience

PLC Automation Software Engineer/Programmer

Your contributions will involve PLC hardware specification, I/O Layout, program development and HMI (Human Machine Interface) design and collaboration. Some projects will also require working with software vendors and/or partner developers to bring projects to completion.
Working from our headquarters in Reading, Pennsylvania, you will be involved in the following activities:
- Work with technical and non-technical customer personnel to develop and implement process automation solutions
- Research and write functional requirement specifications
- Specify system software and hardware architecture
- Develop Allen Bradley, Modicon and Siemens PLC solutions using a variety of applications and tools
- Collaborate with other developers on HMI development using products from GE Fanuc, Rockwell Software, Siemens and Wonderware
- Travel to customer sites for system commissioning, installation and training
- Provide customer technical support and system upgrades

You should have the following professional experience:

travel:
- Minimum of 4 weeks per year, up to 12 weeks per year (approximately 25%)
Typical travel consists of one to two weeks at a customer site and occasional
shorter trips of 1 to 3 days
